Luke’s account was included in the Bible because:
- The DETAILS the document contains.
- The EVIDENCE of who wrote the document.
- WHEN the document was written.
- What is RECORDED about Jesus.
Luke is documenting someone’s LIFE.
Luke 3:1-20 (pg. 1,593)
v.2: “…the word of God came to JOHN, son of ZECHARIAH in the wilderness.”
John the BAPTIZER
v.3: “John went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of REPENTANCE for the FORGIVENESS of SINS.”
v.7: “You brood of VIPERS! Who warned you to FLEE from the coming WRATH?”
v.8: “Produce FRUIT, in keeping with REPENTANCE, and do not begin to say to yourself, We have ABRAHAM as our FATHER. For I tell you, out of these STONES God can raise up CHILDREN of Abraham.”
Out of these STONES God can raise up CHRISTIANS.’
WHAT comes to mind, when YOU come to mind?
‘Produce FRUIT in keeping with WHAT you say you believe and WHO you claim to believe in.’
v.10: “What should we DO, then? The crowd asked.
v.11: “John answered, Anyone who has TWO shirts should share with then one who has NONE. And the one who has FOOD should do the SAME.”
Repentance is only REAL when it becomes VISIBLE.
When it reaches your RELATIONSHIPS, your MONEY and your WORK.
