Think About This
God wants you to lean on Him and look to Him in every situation you walk through. He wants you to know His heart, His glory, and His wisdom. He inspired the writers of the Epistles to write a bunch of different letters to a bunch of different people in a bunch of different situations for exactly that purpose. Not everything in these letters is directly applicable to everyone, but in all of these letters we can see God’s heart for us, His glory, and His wisdom.
Do this
These letters were written to encourage early believers in their everyday struggles. Who is someone in our life right now that needs an encouraging note or text from us? Together with your student, write a letter (or text, or email) to someone you both know well. In this letter, work with your student to share with that person some of the things that you’re thankful for, some of the things you love about God, and some things you’ve learned lately. Try to make this letter something that benefits the person you’re sending it to by encouraging them, reminding/teaching them about God, and sharing useful knowledge or experience.

• The video compares reading ancient letters to hearing an inside joke you weren’t part of. Does the Bible ever feel confusing like that to you?
• Paul started almost every letter wishing people ‘grace and peace.’ What is one area of your life right now where you could use more peace?
• Some advice in the letters was for specific cultural situations back then, while other truths apply forever. How do we figure out which parts are timeless guides for us today?
