“Reconciled”

Colossians 1:19-22, Matthew 5:23-24, Luke 2:1-14
 
Reconciliation is not comfortable, and not intuitive, but often it is necessary:
For OUR sake.
For THEIR sake.
For CONSCIENCE’S sake.
For JESUS sake.

We know we should, but:
We just DON’T WANT to.
We just haven’t gotten AROUND to it.
It’s just way to EMOTIONAL.
They don’t really seem INTERESTED.

Colossians 1:19-22  pg. 1,832

v.19 “For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Jesus, and through Him to RECONCILE to HIMSELF all things…by making PEACE through Jesus’ blood, shed on the CROSS.”
 
v.21 “Once you were ALIENATED from God and were enemies in your minds because of your EVIL BEHAVIOR.”

v.22 “But now, God has RECONCILED you, by Jesus’ physical body through DEATH, to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from ACCUSATION.”
 
Reconciled: God removed everything that has made us INCOMPATIBLE with Him.
 
Why is it that it’s so easy to resist DEMONSTRATING what at Christmas we’re CELEBRATING?

Make visible in the life of SOMEONE ELSE what your Heavenly Father through Jesus, at Christmas, made visible for YOU.

God did not RESCIND His offer simply because we would not RECEVE it.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth PEACE to those on whom His favor RESTS.                                                                                                                                      Luke 2:14

If God and sinner can be RECONCILED, who are we to withhold the offer of RECONCILIATION?

The way to start is to understand, you never start with reconciliation, you start with forgiveness because: FORGIVENESS + Trust = Reconciliation.

Attempts at reconciliation ALWAYS work in SOMEONE
