John 12:1-11
SIX days before the Passover (v. 1)
v. 3: Mary is WASTING a year’s worth of wage to honor Jesus.
Sometimes WORSHIP seems wasteful.
“Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my BURIAL.” (v. 7)
Mary recognizes what JESUS is about to do.
John 12:12-18
The CROWDS made bold statements, but didn’t recognize what Jesus was about to do.
On Saturday, Jesus sat at the table with MARY.
On Sunday, he arrived on a DONKEY.
Then, he flipped TABLES at the Temple.
“For my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” (Isaiah 56:7)
Jesus is making space for EVERYONE to be in his presence.
