The Table of Forgiveness | At the Table with Jesus

Luke 7:36-50, Colossians 2:13-14

Jesus would always take an individual’s ENTIRE story into account when He INTERACTED with them.

“Anyone who has seen ME, has seen the FATHER.” – John 14:9

Your SIN, your past, your failure, none of that DEFINES you in the eyes of God, your Heavenly Father.

But, your Heavenly Father does not OVERLOOK your sin.

You are invited to accept your Heavenly Father’s estimation of YOU.

If you do, you may find int easier to extend that same entire-story Grace to OTHERS.

Luke 7:36-50 (pg. 1,604)

v.36: “When one of the PHARISEES invited Jesus to have dinner with him,
He went to the Pharisee’s HOUSE and RECLINED at the table.”

v.39: “When the Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this, he said to himself, if this man were truly a PROPHET, He would know who is touching Him and what kind of a woman she is, that she is a sinner.”

v.41: “Two people OWED money to a certain money lender. One owed him five hundred denarii and the other fifty. NEITHER of them had the money to pay him back, so he FORGAVE the debts of BOTH.”

Sin is a DESIRE to live INDEPENDENT of God.

v.42: “Which of them will LOVE him more? Simon replied, I suppose the one who had the BIGGER DEBT forgiven.”

You can invite Jesus into your HOME and still withhold your HEART.

How does a LENDER forgive?

The only thing you can do with a debt is TRANSFER it. SOMEBODY has to pay.

v.50: “Jesus said to the woman, Your faith has saved you; go in PEACE.”

“Jesus forgave us all our sins. Having CANCELLED the charge of our legal INDEBTEDNESS which stood AGAINST us and CONDEMNED us. He has TAKEN it AWAY, nailing it to the CROSS.” – Colossians 2:13-14
