Usher information sheet

Communications

At the end of each month, the Head Usher will call the team captains scheduled to serve for the upcoming month and remind them to call their ushers. If there is a shortage of ushers, the team captains should call the head usher for additional help. Current Usher lists are posted in the Ushers Room.

Captains and Usher Duties

1. Ushers should arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled service time. Usher name badges are available and located on the wall in the Ushers Room. Check in with the Team Captain for your location assignment.

2. The Team Captain will meet with the Pastor leading worship to see if there are any special needs for the worship service.

3. The Team Captain will complete the Worship Attendance Sheet. Total worshipers and communicants are
counted by the ushers as they collect the offering and do communion. A count of the nursery children & volunteer workers is also required. Metal hand counters are available if needed. The completed Attendance Sheet is given to the Lay Minister in charge.

4. The Team Captain assigns ushers to specific positions for the offering collection (8 ushers for offering & 11 for Communion). See floor plan posted on door in usher room.

5. The Team Captain makes sure all attendance cards, money and envelopes are put in the safe and there should be at least two ushers in the room until all monies are placed in the safe.

6. Team Captain reminds ushers who are pulling for Communion, to watch for the handicap or elderly who may need to be served in their seat. The pulling ushers take Communion last, and at that time will lead the communion servers to anyone who needs to be served in their seats.

7. Ushers should pick up any papers from the seats/floor at the end of each service.

8. CPR & AED (Defibrillator) training is available from our church staff Nurse. Those who have taken the class can be identified by a CPR / AED sticker on the usher badge.

9. Dress code: Men - suit, sport coat, and tie. Ladies - suit, dress, business pant suit..

Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions and thanks again for serving.
