We will visit ministries that Faith is actively involved in supporting. The tour will include two ministries that are a part of Lutheran City Ministries-Family of God and Nazareth Lutheran Church. We'll also visit two ministries that are a part of Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries-Oasis and Genesis House II. On this tour you will hear what these ministries are doing and how we can help. "Do Ya Wanna Dance?: A Benefit for Lutheran City Ministries: Learn to dance the Rumba with Faith's own certified dance instructor, Pat Clapham. The 3 week series of lessons will be held on October 25, November 1 & November 8 from 7:00pm-8:00pm. We will be accepting a $25/person donation for the three lessons. You'll learn to dance the Rumba like a pro and at the same time 100% of your donation will be used to support our Lutheran brothers and sisters at Nazareth Lutheran Church through Lutheran City Ministries in Detroit. Nazareth is a congregation of 25 members that is struggling to keep it's doors open. This church is a source of light and hope in it's neighborhood. Located at Grand River and Vicksburg, Nazareth is home to Higher Praise Dance Academy. This academy brings children into a safe environment where they learn to worship God while they learn to dance. It also hosts a weekly neighborhood outreach event. In addition, this church runs a weekly food pantry that is dependant upon donations from the Lutheran community in order to be open each week. Call Jo Zamzow at 248-340-0861 to register for Rumba lessons. Bring a partner and plan to wear smooth leather sole shoes with little or no heel. November Gifts for All God's Children": Beginning November 3 & 4 we will be handing out the names of needy children. These children will receive Christmas gifts from sponsoring families at Faith. Your help is needed one or more Saturdays or Sundays in November to hand out the names. Contact Joanne Newberry at 248-723-1882 to volunteer. December "Gifts for All God's Children" Weekend of December 1 & 2: Our congregation will be bringing to church the gifts they have purchased for needy children in Detroit and Highland Park. Following services on that Sunday, many volunteers will be needed to check in, sort, trouble-shoot and store the large number of gifts that will be brought in.
